When the colony ship Aurora crashlands on a desolate, ice-bound planet in the Helix, part of a spiral of worlds orbiting around a central sun, leaving most of the colonists in coldsleep, the surviving crew members search the spiral for a more habitable place for the colony and come face to face with dangerous alien cultures.
